Nolita,
the terrace with a view in Porto Recanati

21 October 2021

A cozy restaurant on the seafront, where fish is the focus of the menu

Wide beaches, crystal clear waters, colorful fishermen's houses: in Porto Recanati, on the Conero Riviera, you can smell the aroma of the sea.
Just like in the fish restaurant Nolita with its welcoming and warm ambiance.
For Jacopo Ascani, the opening was a real homecoming. The place belonged to his family in the past and it is here that the current manager took his first steps in the world of restaurant business.
The new adventure began in 2021, together with chef Simone Stacco. It is therefore not surprising that the name Nolita, North of Little Italy, was inspired by a TV series that the two watched together at the time of their first partnership.
The restaurant has a large panoramic terrace overlooking the sea, Loreto, and Monte Conero, as well as an interior room, decorated in a minimalistic style and shades of beige, white and black. The ingredients are strictly local, and the flavors of the sea animate the tasty and well-balanced dishes.

The tasting of appetizers, so much appreciated by customers, is served in 5 or 6 steps. Raw fish to start, such as sea bass carpaccio, red tuna tartare and marinated salmon; followed by hot hors d'oeuvres such as roasted mullet with smoked provola cream and sautéed aubergines and Atlantic scallops with Jerusalem artichoke cream.
The menu options are always seasonal: in autumn, for example, the summer gazpacho with baby squids and red prawns gives way to pumpkin, while the unusual combinations are an expression of the chef's inspiration.

The tortello stuffed with red prawns and stracciatella sautéed with a crayfish bisque is the king among the first courses, while the second courses include the classic fried fish and pan-fried or Catalan style fresh fish.
Even though the menu focuses on the sea, the chef occasionally plays with meat ingredients as well. Try their monkfish wrapped in bacon, with leeks, white truffle and cabbage cream, and turbot in porchetta.
Among the desserts, go for Nolita cake: a delight with a biscuit base, hazelnut praline and dark chocolate glazing, covered with red berries and a pinch of Maldon salt to add a lively touch. Another option is the classic Zuppa Inglese and ricotta mousse with praline nuts, chocolate flakes and persimmon drips.
A national and international wine list promises the most curious customers the opportunity to choose and try new labels; the water served at the table is San Benedetto Millennium Water - Ancient Source of Health, which originates from an ancient aquifer and has been preserved by nature for 5000 years.
At Nolita, the perfect balance between the authenticity and novelty has conquered both locals and tourists alike: a great start for a shared adventure!
