Lunch at Tiffany's,
a hidden gem of Lake Maggiore

22 May 2023

Awe-inspiring vistas frame our prestigious gastronomic experience at the Jewel of Villa Porta restaurant.

The land of Varese province is adorned with breathtaking panoramas, especially as we approach Lake Maggiore, where the green-blue waters welcome us.
We find ourselves in Luino, a Lombard tourist destination nestled between lake and mountain. With its natural trails, ancient beauty of the historic center, and boat excursions, it has everything for an unforgettable day.

One of Luino's unique features is splendid ancient villas renovated to welcome visitors and offer dreamlike stays for those seeking relaxation by Lake Maggiore. One such place is Villa Porta, a timeless elegance that gently caresses the waters of Colmegna Lake, renowned not only as a hotel but also for its Tiffany Restaurant.
We settle into a room with essential and elegant furnishings, meticulously crafted down to the smallest detail. It is not opulent or overwhelming, as the true star is the breathtaking panorama that makes us feel as if we are inside a 19th-century landscape masterpiece.

We are welcomed by the owner, Lara Luz, who shares the story behind Tiffany: innate elegance, an environment born out of the need for refinement without ostentation, which is why such an evocative name was chosen.

For 30 years, the restaurant has embraced the wave of change, aware of culinary evolution, trends, and the need to satisfy ever-evolving palates while offering genuine and seasonal ingredients.

At Tiffany, classic cuisine is revisited to be both refined and simple, enhanced by new flavors and local ingredients.
The service is seamless and impeccable: we are surprised by the attentiveness without intrusiveness, making us feel at ease, as if we were at home.
We embark on our gastronomic journey with a tartare of the freshest tuna, enriched with yuzu and soy, and continue with flavorful pasta dishes such as tagliolini with burrata cream and red shrimp tartare, and ravioli filled with ricotta and white asparagus accompanied by Colmegna herbs.
The main courses captivate us with their sophistication. We are enthralled by the myriad nuances of taste in the marinated and cherry-smoked trout with asparagus and lemons, and the delicate low-temperature-cooked veal fillet with Turiggia cream.

The wine list is a collage of excellence, featuring Italian labels and some essential classics from France and the neighboring Canton Ticino, while water is 100% San Benedetto Millennium Water Water Antica Fonte della Salute.
Lara Luz chose San Benedetto initially for the hotel and then for the restaurant, not only for its lightness, sourced from a thousand-year-old aquifer with only 0.0001% nitrates but also for the beauty of a glass bottle format of 0.65L that does not intrude upon the table but complements it with its clean, elegant lines and silver tones, perfectly aligning with the fine dining concept of Tiffany Restaurant.

We conclude our magnificent lunch, reluctantly taking a step outside the splendid frame in which we were immersed.
Nevertheless, we shall not forget the brushstrokes of flavors, the colors of local ingredients, and the wonder for our palate, all thanks to the gastronomic excellence experienced at Tiffany."
